The programme supports students from backgrounds under-represented in medicine to experience university life, build confidence and learn about routes into a career.
Mr Beales heard about students’ ambitions, their experience so far and the support available to help them.
The programme combines online learning with a residential stay at Brunel, practical clinical sessions with educators from a local GP practice and NHS trusts, plus a cardiology workshop.
Students also explored the campus and enjoyed a West End trip to see Lion King.
Those who complete the summer school are guaranteed an interview for Brunel’s MBBS Medicine programme if they meet entry requirements.
Mr Beales said: “Programmes like this can make a real difference by showing young people what a future in medicine could look like.”
