Funding was approved at the last cabinet meeting of Ealing Council for up to 66 new specialist places at two mainstream schools in the borough.
New dedicated learning spaces will be created at Acton Gardens Primary School and Brentside High School in Hanwell.
A total of 36 SEND places will be offered at Acton Gardens and 30 at Brentside. The places will start to become available from September.
Ealing will invest around £1.25m at Acton Gardens and £1m at Brentside to create specialist classrooms and support facilities.
Cllr Blerina Hashani, cabinet member for a fairer start, said: “By creating more specialist places in local schools, we can help children and young people access the support they need closer to home.
Harsha Patel, head teacher at Acton Gardens Primary, said: “[It] will enable us to support more children with SEND within their local community, providing specialist support while ensuring they remain fully included in the life of our school.”
Ealing councillors also approved an additional £1.5m of government funding for future SEND projects across the borough.
